The answer to your Q is: never.

But the clash of the titans between the people may raze and burn the earth of the homeland until it is destroyed beyond recognition, and the survivors become refugees and the laughingstock of their neighbors who sat by and watched them do it while shaking their heads in sadness.

Hope you had a lovely summer (more rather than less inshallah) Imbarek 3layk il-shahar.

As always, sorry my long comment is written in English. As you know, my written Arabic is sadly not as proficient as my English and I am one of "those" kinds of Kuwaities...

Ma6goog, Kuwait our country will survive whatever clash that is coming/already happening, just as it always has and always will. It is not a question of hating Kuwait the homeland. It is a question of what the madness of its ignorant greedy citizens will do to it and how it will break the peoples hearts and spirits, and damage their psyche and souls. And not every Kuwaiti has the luxury or privilege of being able to consider leaving to start a new sane life in another country.

To expect that most people will be able to compartmentalize their feelings and differentiate between their love and loyalty to their country and the damage that is happening to their lives at the most basic level is naive and unrealistic. People need to live.

Do you think most of the citizens who have left/still try to leave Iraq because of the war and destructive sectarian conflict and conditions don't love their country? They want to breathe, eat, and live normal reasonably civilized lives out of danger and with some human dignity. To raise healthy sane children without the wounds and scars of horrible trauma.

Forgive me, but asking the question of whether the destructive ideological fighting between the people of Kuwait will make them hate their homeland is not the real issue. The real issue is: do the KUWAITI PEOPLE know what they are doing to themselves and their country BY THEIR OWN HAND, and how will they live with themselves when the dust settles and everything that the past generations of Kuwaiti intellectuals and visionaries, and it's benevolent rulers with a vision for Kuwaits future (Allah yir7amkum, Baba Jaber and Sabah Al-Salem etc) tried to build, is DESTROYED?

Ma6goog -

Not that long ago, It was my strong belief that most of those citizens (especially the educated ones) who left the country to reside and work abroad were selfish and disloyal and willingly left their homeland when they had so much to contribute to it's growth, education, industry, and evolution. I decried them, especially when they were people I grew up with and knew very well, who emerged from the same kind environment I did OR a more traditional, more typical Kuwaiti background. They made me angry.

Now I have learned to withhold that judgement and have found far more understanding within myself of what the driving force is behind so many intelligent, educated, intellectual people actively choosing to leave Kuwait to find new lives and positions for themselves abroad, and believe me, for many of them it has nothing to do with money or politics. It is because the Kuwaiti system and society has rejected them or made their lives so miserable that they are unable to stay IN SPITE OF THEIR LOVE FOR KUWAIT....

For example, I personally have more than a few friends from "elite" Kuwaiti families who are wealthy enough to enjoy the most privileged life Kuwait has to offer but live abroad whether it's the US, UK, or the Emirates even. They could easily return to Kuwait to set up one of the 50,000 copycat cupcake or high fashion businesses for themselves and take their inherited places as one of the Kuwaiti social glitterati and creme de la creme of society (you know the type). All of them are highly educated, valuable professionals who have much to contribute to Kuwaits growth and evolution. They have tried and given up because the system and culture itself shoots them down and whatever original and useful contribution they have to make or tried to make. Not just shoots them down: DESTROYS THEM AT THEIR VERY CORE AND SOUL FROM WHAT THEY ARE EXPOSED TO. It became torture for them to stay, to endure the mental and emotional assault. A wonderful Kuwaiti lady I grew up with is a physician who has a successful women's health practice in the US where she not only treats both wealthy and poor clients (treats the poor for free and thus contributes productively to the local community and makes an actual difference that is felt) but is able to produce and participate in amazing medical research that is published and built upon. Not just that, she is married to an American and is rearing healthy children without discrimination or awareness of any of the Kuwait BS that we are exposed to because their father is not a Kuwaiti. This woman could easily come back to Kuwait and live among the privileged and wealthy of Kuwaiti society. She chooses the sanity of the productive and respectful life she lives there, content in her contribution to humanity and the sanity of her life, without the illusions and sickness many are exposed to here in our messed up society. And she loves - LOVES Kuwait BTW. Always has and always will.

I also know Kuwaiti men who are in the same position she is, some from not so glamorous backgrounds who have made honest and clean, respectable, productive names for themselves abroad, all by their own hard work fair and square. And they are happy. Why would they leave it?

From my own experience in my own profession and from what I see around me and what has happened to me personally, I still say that I will never abandon my beloved country. But believe me, that ideal gets harder and harder to stick to every single day, when I (and other hard working professionals with me) am exposed to such horrifying BS that makes no sense and shakes me to my very core...I am talking about peoples lives being destroyed, theft of public funds, and the many people I have seen dying because of the apathy and tolerance that people accept or merely shake their heads over about the sham of a disgusting system that is supposed to represent Kuwaiti infrastructure nowadays.

Again, sorry I have become impassioned and took a fir3ee yameen with your excellent topic and made it about hijra from Kuwait. I think the real question about Kuwaities who leave and those whose hearts are being turned against it is: why? And what are we going to do about it? And should we be blaming them right now in the first place amidst such instability and radical social deconstruction???

Thank you Akh Ma6goog for always kindly tolerating my long winded comments and for the most excellent intelligent discussion and questions you have stirred up in your own unique way, as you always do :)

There is no selfishness for the educated citizens or what ever , to have good future for
Them or for their kids and to preserve their dignity , made by standards which they decide it not yours .

Unfortunately, this issue which ma6goog is trying to say is not able to applied
To the arab people including Kuwait , its not about different point of view ( cuz there isn’t in the arab country except Lebanon ) , its not about disloyalty , its not about earning more money , no ,
Its not about loving or hating your country because few of people , kuwait is different from the other country do you know why? , cuz Kuwait and al-sabah royal family both together named ( sentiment existence )

if you disagree in any time or any situation for this statement , that’s mean you are disloyal and doesn’t disserve the Kuwaiti nationality .

( i`m talking by they standars not mine )

Its all about respecting the law and the human being and the only one whom have the right and the power to protect it ( which is leading to protect the society ) restrictive to one family al-sabah family not on the Kuwaitis people hands. :)

Lebanon disserves the scarifies and all of the immigrant they will come back to it one day cuz its disserve but not kuawit

Ma6goog-

(and Lazy Bear):

What you mentioned in your comment about the Kuwaitis born into wealth and privilege who go abroad to live and reject the posh Kuwaiti life was exactly what I was saying and exactly what my point was in my overly long comments. I agree with you totally and completely, that those who refuse the "good life" in Kuwait and go to build a real life abroad are mostly those who want independence, individuality, and to be successful as human beings through their own real and hard work. To live clean and normal lives.

And honestly, that idea appeals to me now too I am so very sorry to say.

My point was that I no longer think that hijra from Kuwait is something bad. And I do not blame any of those who leave Kuwait any more. In fact, in some cases for many Kuwaitis, it is the only sane and right thing to do because of the horrifying way things are in this country now. Good people - GOOD KUWAITIS- are being driven out of their home and far away from it. And that is Kuwait's greatest, most serious, tragic loss.

And no one better call me a disloyal Kuwaiti who has no love for my country for saying that! I love this country but what I see in front of my eyes makes me believe very strongly that it is being damaged and destroyed on a grand and frightening scale.

Thanks again Ma6goog:)
